Me and My Life

For my first blog post, I thought I’d share a little bit about my past experiences in far far away (or just away) lands.

During my junior year at Colorado College, I spent a semester in Dakar, Senegal in West Africa. After living with a host family and taking classes in French and Wolof for 5 months I decided the USA just wasn’t going to cut it. As my last year at school flew by I found myself applying to the Teaching Assistant Program in France.

That's me, on the right!

That’s me, on the right!

Not only was I accepted—but my placement was in an overseas department of France…in the Caribbean! For 8 months I worked 12 hours a week on the Island of Guadeloupe, as an English language assistant with wonderful (and sometimes extremely exhausting) children. And in my eons of free time? Laying on the beach, swimming in the ocean, hiking up waterfalls and learning to dance Salsa at night.

Now I’m getting ready for the incredible experience of volunteering in the Peace Corps, in MONGOLIA!! That means 27 months of freezing my butt off while teaching English in one of the coolest places EVER. And while I mentally prepare myself for -40 degrees, I’m spending 2 months volunteering in a Kibbutz in Israel.

What’s a kibbutz you ask? What’s the Peace Corps you ask?
And where in the world is Mongolia?? Well friends, read on.
